We went out to the Pinnacles National Park today, more specifically, to go to the Bear Gulch Cave.
As a family, we LOVE to go on adventures.
I remember, as a little girl, my parents took me to a cave. We went through once together and then I wanted to go through again. They let me go by myself without a flashlight. Yeah, parenting was a little different back then. I felt my way through the darkness with just my hands. At one point I was crawling over a rock on my belly, barely squeezing through, knowing I wasn’t going the right way… but somehow I found my way out but it wasn’t the same place I had come out before. So I wandered around for an hour until I found them. I don’t even think they were particularly concerned. ;)
But when we went through this cave at breakneck speed (it was a wonder I was able to take any pictures, and then I only had a one second window — most came out blurry) every one of us had a flashlight. In retrospect, it was probably a good idea that we went through so fast. It didn’t leave time for the boys to get scared.
Going over the photographs I did take, I was half cringing at all the dark ones. It reminded me of that movie, the Descent. I was expecting to see some type of humanoid crawling on the ceiling.
Oh, I CANNOT wait to go on more adventures! Seriously, nature is so much fun. We saw a bunch of rock climbers out there and it reminded me of how much I used to love doing it. My imagination went wild with the rock formations. By the time we left, all I saw were a bunch of side profiles of people with big noses in the rocks.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. :)
